Acquired another pair of cuban gar in anticipation of the upcoming ban from AVA. Regardless, I have been eyeing this species for a long time and I now have a total of 3 pieces in my collection.
Cubans are heavy eaters and they put on a lot of weight in a short period of time.
My latest craze….BICHIRS!
My first Bichir! Acquired late April 2011 at approximately 4″. Actually bought 2 pieces and 1 simply disappeared and till date unable to find its body. One of the mysteries of fish keeping.
Experienced my 3rd spawn within 3 months. Never really successful rearing them into juvenile stage yet!
Set up my CA Cichlid tank in mid April.

This was the first pair of Bartonis that was purchased in March 2011. Love the breeding colors displayed but they have passed on due to bloat. I have since purchased 4 more pieces.
Got this beautiful pair of Haitiensis on 10/03/2011. They have since passed on due to bloat. So sad….
Fei Feng or Flagtail Charcin was purchased in December 2010. Was a slow grower and remained the smallest fish in my comm tank and spend about 2 minutes in the stomach of one of the peacock bass and managed to survived after the PB realized it was too big to fit into its stomach. Did an excellent job of keeping my comm tank free of algae. Passed on in March.
Got this beautiful piece of Florida Gar from Stones in Dec 2010. It was barely 8″ then and rather skinny looking. It has since put on 5″ in length and looks pretty fat. Eats everything anytime.
